Lately I've been turned off to drawing dragons... and especially turned off to using them in my calender. However, since I've been using the calender as an excuse to design "secong generation" characters lately I decided to include her.

Tenari is the offspring of my characters Mag & Kjata. She's a direct hybrid of the two Theran dragon species. According to the current time period that my fictional universe takes place in, she won't be born for another 15-20 years. She's shown as being in her late teens/early twenties in this picture.

I'm still behind on art that I need to get done. Even this calender is later then I normally like my calenders to be. I'm trying my hardest to get caught back up. I'm getting more used to my new tablet but I still don't have the control that I did with my old one, yet.

I've been considering discontinuing my calender series. On months like this, creating a new calender picture can be a big hassle. I haven't made any descisions for sure wheter or not I'm going to do this.

October 08 installment of my calender series.

This white phoenix is a "second generation" character.
Meaning... after the time period that the main bulk of my stories take place in and most of my characters are dead and gone... life in the Azura't'oris universe and on Thera goes on. Many of my characters do have children during their lives. I have not done much work with this period of time (at all, actually) so I figured it was about time to play around and see what their offspring would look like.
This character in particular is the second daughter of Hellfire. In the current Theran time period she wouldn't be born for at least another 30-40 years and she would be born out of wedlock. She is currently unnamed. Fennar (Theran Phoenix) are typically orange or red colored but since Hellfire is a powerful sorcerer I've always envisioned his children to be a unique color. In this case, white.

September '08 installment of my calender series. I've been trying to get away from mammals for a few months to try drawing some of the less seen species in the fandom.

This month's calender was originally going to be a tiger shark but I had too much trouble getting the shark to look feminine so I gave up on that idea.

Sooo you're getting an emperor penguin instead because I like penguins and I've only seen a few furry penguin drawings in all my years in the fandom.

As usual, this calender series is meant specifically for you, my fans. Therefore I have left the big watermarks off for the enjoyment of the viewer. If this is abused then I will start putting watermarks on my calenders. You have my permission to download my calenders to use as wallpaper or print them to hang in your room/locker/wherever. This picture was “viewer’s choice”. On DeviantArt I held a poll of some of anthro species that arean’t drawn nearly enough in my mind and “hyena” had the most votes at the time that I closed the poll. Can’t say that I’m surprised in the least bit as hyenas were the only canine species on the list and I know how much you people love your canines. LOL. Some of the other species that didn’t make it will be saved for later calender ideas.

For the next two or three months, I’m going to try to avoid using mammals for the calender (**the artist thinks that she hears a resounding “awwwww…” among her viewers**). Mammals are very overpopulated in the furry world and you know the old saying “variety is the spice of life”.
I may go back on this idea if there is a certain species that I’m feeling particularly inspired by a certain species at the time I make the calender (I‘ve been wanting to draw more bats so that‘s a definite maybe).

As for this calender…
The last two calenders that I have done have featured “battlemage” characters (what a battlemage is will be explained below). They are a fun class to draw so I decided to continue the trend. Part of me would like to continue this trend until I have used each of the nine elements as the theme but I probably won’t because by the time I’ve done all nine elements I’ll probably be tired of drawing battlemages… and my viewers will probably be tired of looking at them.
The gal in this calender is a random ’yena girl. She doesn’t have a name or backstory. She was just a one-time character for the calender. All I can say is that she practices the nature school of magik… which is not the same as earth magik. The green color of the spell in her hand and the tattoos on her arm give that away.



BattleMages:
There are nine elements in Theran culture; fire, wind, water, earth, energy, nature, soul, life, and death.
Each element has a school of magik associated with it and a different deity that represents it. Theran spell casters tend to be very religious as their magical energy is drawn from both their god and from the life stream. There are several varieties of spell casters including the mighty battlemage.
As their name suggests, battlemages are paladins who are experts of both physical and ethereal combat. They are champions for their god and live to smite evil wherever it is found. Battlemages practice one and only one of the seven schools of magik besides life and death (Only Theran priests practice life magik while only verin priests practice death magik. I’ll explain why this is when I finally get off my butt and do my “Theran Gods” series of character sheets.)
They master one weapon of their choice. More often then not, it is a bladed weapon. Most (but not all) battlemages have a series of intricate designs tattooed on one, or both, of their arms. These tattoos span from the hand to the elbow and are in the colors and symbols of the element chosen by the individual battlemage.

Yeah. There’s a lot of detail in the Theran spell casting system. I’ll hopefully get around to doing the Theran gods series soon and all should be explained then. But meh, I have too many things to work on already so I don’t know when I’ll get around to it.

I love this time of year because where I live, you're pretty much a blasphemer if you don't like the Red Wings (yeah, Hockey is a VERY big deal here in Michigan). It's always amusing to be at me parent's house when the playoff games are on because my dad yells at the TV. The last few weeks I couldn't drive around town without seeing a car with "Penguins Suck" or the like written on it. XD

Now that they won the cup, all of the WingNuts are going to come out. Always fun.

Okay... I HATE finishing calender pictures this long before the month they represent but I was stuck babysitting with only my computer to entertain me so it gave me a chance to get some work done.

So yeah... My June installment for my Theran girls calender series.

Noria is a new character of mine... after doing a few commissioned pieces of NewEnglander's bear character, Sheila I just had to make an ursine character of my own. I chose to make her a panda because pandas just rock.
I didn't want her to be the stereotypical chinese based anthro panda (as cute as they are) so there are no Asian related things on her.

Some people I've shown this to(namely my boyfriend) have already compared her to the Sexual Harrassment panda from an old episode of South Park (LOL!). I dunno... I think she'd make a horrible "sexual harrasment panda".

She's relatively new so I haven't made a backstory, etc for her, yet. All I can say is that she's a battlemage who uses the wind element.

Well, it's official. I will be attending the Motor City Comic Con in May. What day I will be there, I haven't decided, yet. It all depends on what day the good events that I want to go to are, but right now it's looking like I'll be there on Saturday, May 17th.

I'm considering entering the art contest they have this year. The reason why I've never entered before is because it would have meant me drawing Fan Art, and I'm not typically a big fan of making fan art. I've decided that if I do this, I'll either be drawing somethign Firefly or Star Fox related. I've never played any of the SF games, but I believe that I draw anthros better then people.

Whether or not I enter is up in the air whether or not I enter as I've been becomming increasingly unhappy with myself as both a person and an artist. I think it's about time for me to do some soul searching of my own. It seems like I always try too hard to make other people happy that I never stop and try to make myself happy.

But I won't turn my LJ emo so I'll just stop there and end on a positive note... Calender!!!!

March 2008 installment for my Theran Girls calender series. My first real accomplishment all week. :/

Like the last few months, this is a character that I created about ten years ago that I feel needed a new look. Mag is a Theran Spirit Dragon... bipedal of course.
I have made a few changes to her since I've last drawn her... mainly with the skin. I added a lighter tone to her stomach and throat as well as adding flecks of darker gold to her back.

The fans that she carries have blades in them, so they can be used as weapons.

No new episodes of Chuck until after the New Year. This displeases me greatly because now I don't know what I'm going to do with my Monday and Saturday nights as I've been watching that show religiously ever since the first night that it aired.
I'll just have to get my Adam Baldwin fix by watching reruns on NBC's website... or renting Full Metal Jacket. He reminds me of my character, Aredon so much that it's almost scary.

I've been busy working on commissions. I'm almost considering closing them again because I don't even remember the last time that I've sat down and made art for myself. I have two or three dragon pictures that I have inked and ready to scan but I just haven't gotten around to coloring them, yet. My calender project gives me an excuse to draw my own characters.

I noticed that I've been working on this calender project for about a year and I haven't drawn any gryphon characters for it, yet. By my standards that's pretty much blasphemy.

I decided that it was about time to give this character, Libby, a new look since it's been a long time since I've drawn her. I first created her back in 1998 so she's one of my oldest characters but at 17 years old she's one of my youngest at the same time. One of the most noticable changes I've made to her are the ears. I lengthened them quite a bit... because big ears just Pwn. Now they're almost as long as Tori's.
